St. Cloud State works with several government-sponsored programs in its efforts to create a campus on which students have an opportunity to acquire a global view and global understanding.

Institute of International Education

The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government. It is designed to increase mutual understanding between people in the United States and other countries.

About 310,000 participants — chosen for their academic merit and leadership potential — have had the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research, exchange ideas and contribute to finding solutions to shared international concerns through Fulbright.

Fulbright, which brings citizens of other countries to the United States for master’s or doctorate degree studies at universities or other appropriate institutions. The program has brought some of the world’s finest minds to U.S. campuses and offers program participants insight into U.S. society and values.

USAID Egypt, through Fulbright, grants scholarships to 335 high-achieving, economically disadvantaged Egyptians for U.S. master’s degree programs in fields critical to Egypt's economic development. They acquire leadership and employment skills, English language training and a first-hand understanding of American society that they take back to Egypt to become community leaders and engage in civic activities in their communities.


AMIDEAST, which is a U.S. nonprofit organization that strengthens mutual understanding and cooperation between Americans and the peoples of the Middle East and North Africa through English language and professional skills training, educational advising and testing services for students and professionals and support of institutional development projects and educational exchange programs.


IREX is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to building a more just, prosperous and inclusive world by empowering youth, cultivating leaders, strengthening institutions and extending access to quality education and information.

World Learning

World Learning is a nonprofit organization advancing leadership in more than 60 countries. We envision a just world, driven by engaged citizens and thriving communities. To achieve this goal, our mission is to empower people and strengthen institutions through education, exchange and development programs.

100,000 Strong in the Americas

100,000 Strong in the Americas is a collaboration of public and private organizations and institutions including the White House, U.S. Department of State, Partners of the Americas, and NAFSA: Association of International Educators. It was created in January 2014. It's Innovation Fund awards grants to teams of 168 higher education institutions from 20 countries in the Western Hemisphere.



St. Cloud State University offers academic support in a variety of forms for visiting students, including tutoring, advising, career and testing services.

Multicultural Student Services provides programming, cultural organizations and social events that connect students and the community.
