Vision Insurance Overview

St. Cloud State University offers an optional Vision plan through the State Employee Group Insurance Program (SEGIP). 

In 2026, SEGIP's Vision Plan is now administered by MetLife's Superior Vision Network. This plan is available for all benefits-eligible employees, regardless of whether you are enrolled in the State of Minnesota’s MN Advantage Health Plan or have other medical coverage.

Employees enrolled in the MN Advantage Health Plan may choose the Vision plan regardless of their medical plan administrator. While the medical plan covers routine eye exams, the MetLife Vision Insurance provides additional support by helping save of eyeglasses or contact lenses. It also offers discounts on LASIK and other vision-related services.

The plan utilizes MetLife's Superior Vision Network, which includes a wide range of in-network providers, offering flexibility and convenience in accessing care. Participants who do not have access to Superior Vision Network providers within 30 miles, have access to an out-of-area Vision plan.

If you previously had coverage through Davis Vision with Blue Cross in 2025, your coverage automatically moved to MetLife Vision unless you canceled it during Open Enrollment. If you have questions about eyeglasses, contacts, or other care you bought in 2025, go to the 2025 Blue Cross Vision webpage.

• You may enroll regardless of the following:
  • Whether you are enrolled in the Minnesota Advantage Health Plan
  • Whether you've chosen Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota or HealthPartners as your plan administrator
  • If you've waived Minnesota Advantage Health Plan coverage
• This Vision plan helps pay for frames and lenses.
• Offers lens enhancements, including, but not limited to, polycarbonate (shatter-resistant) lenses, ultraviolet (UV) coating, scratch-resistant and anti-reflective coatings, and progressive lenses.
• Your plan includes access to a discount on LASIK.
• You also have access to a hearing exam and a discount on hearing aids.
