The College of Education and Learning Design values our education partners. We regularly partner with school districts to help support professional development, teacher recruitment, and teacher mentorship through our field and student teaching experiences.
The COELD partners with school communities to recruit students in high school who are future educators. Students who participate in GYO programs have access to the Introduction to Education course while in high school as well as engage in summer camp at St. Cloud State and student supports to ensure a smooth pathway from high school to college to classroom.
Recruiting teachers is only the beginning. Providing continual mentorship, support, and engagement in the profession is a critical step to retain new teachers in the field. CEPP ppartnered with St. Cloud School District 742 to create a CAMP experience for teachers in their first 3 years in the classroom.
The student teaching experience can be a transformation time for a future teacher. COELD and the Center for Excellence in Professional Practice partner with school districts around the state to provide quality mentorship experiences for future teachers. This is also a powerful recruitment tool for districts to engage candidates for position openings.
