Public Safety's Response to Mental Health Concerns
If you or someone you know are in immediate danger, call 911.
Public Safety officers are trained to respond to mental health concerns and emergencies, providing immediate support until professional services—such as ambulance or mental health providers—arrive. Officers are often the first to respond, assessing the situation and determining the student’s needs. Services are available within campus boundaries.
What does this look like?
- Responding to calls across campus, including welfare checks
- Partnering with Counseling and Psychological Services and the St. Cloud Police Department Mental Health Co-Response Team
- Providing transportation to St. Cloud Hospital for students experiencing mental health concerns
- Escorting students back to campus (within escort boundaries) from the hospital, when staffing allows
St. Cloud State University Public Safety is committed to supporting student well-being. Students also have access to on-campus counseling services and digital mental health support through Mantra Health.
