Your Personal Safety is Important to Us

If your personal safety is at risk, call 911 immediately.

Together, St. Cloud State University Public Safety officers and the St. Cloud Police Department (SCPD) have implemented important measures across campus to ensure your personal safety. Should you encounter an emergency, trained Public Safety offices are often the first to arrive on the scene to assess the situation and provide resources until emergency services arrive.

Public Safety also works closely with the SCPD to monitor safety concerns in areas that border campus to ensure students and SCSU employees who may be impacted are offered support and safety resources.

Personal Safety Across Campus

  • Continuous Campus Monitoring: Public Safety officers complete nightly patrols 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Quick Response Times: Officers quickly respond to calls for service, investigate and complete reports on incidents and refer incidents to law enforcement agencies when appropriate.
  • Security Cameras Across Campus: Dispatchers continuously monitor security cameras across the university. Cameras monitor not only high-traffic areas, but also the border areas of campus. Dash cameras are also used in Public Safety vehicles.
  • Blue Light Emergency Call Boxes: There are approximately 54 external blue light phones across campus. They should be activated in case of safety concerns. When activated, they give off a flashing light. Officers respond to all phone activations immediately. Public Safety also responds to alarm systems across campus and call boxes in elevators.
  • Safety Escorts: Public Safety officers offer safety escorts to any student, faculty, staff or guest concerned about their personal safety during non-daylight hours. This no-cost service can be accessed by calling Public Safety at (320) 308-3333.
  • Safety App: The Safe@St.Cloud app provides a mobile blue light option. When activated, you’ll be in direct contact with Public Safety officers. The app also allows you to share your location with a friend or family member so they can monitor your location as you progress from one destination to another.
