Web & Application Development

ITS partners with campus units to provide various types of application development and integration for the campus community enabling units to integrate core data with university-wide systems.

Developers support hundreds of custom applications that have been created to help automate processes around campus. From complex workflows that pull data from ISRS, to portlets consumed by the student portal, to vital integration applications, our team has the ability create nearly anything campus offices could need.

If you have a need for a custom application, please contact HuskyTech.

ImageNow

ImageNow (also known as Perceptive Content) is a document imaging tool that helps groups on campus securely store their documents. ImageNow can route documents through any necessary processes or workflows and is used in many offices across campus.

SharePoint

SharePoint is a web-based tool that enables teams to collaborate using team sites and document publishing. It provides a secure place to store, organize, share and access information from all major web browsers. Our team creates and supports the hundreds of sites currently used on campus including adding and removing individual permissions.

Web analytics

St. Cloud State University utilizes Google Analytics to provide free web site analysis and reporting on how web sites are being used.

Monthly Reports

Monthly reports are available for departments and offices to receive which include information about top pages within those sites.

These reports are sent from Google Data Studio. Standard reports show a line graph of all site pageviews, with most recent month's data as well as the previous time period's data for comparison. Data is also shown for the top 25 visited pages in your site listed below main headings and contain similar information for each page shown.

Headings include:

  • Pageviews: The total number of pages viewed. Repeated views of a single page are counted.
  • Unique Pageviews: The number of visits during which one or more of these pages was viewed.
  • Avg. Time on Page: The average amount of time visitors spent viewing this set of pages or page.

Interactive reports are available by clicking on the link in the email that is sent. Within the interactive report in Google Data Studio, you will be able to:

  • See full report beyond top 25 pages (if applicable).
  • Change the time period of the report.
  • Hover over the line graph to see data for each line’s point.
  • Click on each page to see line graph data specific to that page.
  • Sort table data by columns.

Web content management (Cascade Server)

St. Cloud State University uses Cascade Server as the web content management system to maintain the sites within the official www.stcloudstate.edu web site in coordination with University Communications.

Maintaining web sites

Designated web editors within campus units are trained to use Cascade to manage content on their web sites. All edits made within Cascade are submitted to a workflow which is then reviewed by University Communications to maintain consistency and search engine optimization so that web sites remain usable, searchable and accessible.

For editing access and Cascade training, contact web@stcloudstate.edu.

New sites and major updates

Requests for new web sites and changes, such as structure/navigation changes or creating new pages, need to be sent to web@stcloudstate.edu.
