Fall 2021 Graduate Student Orientation

Welcome New St. Cloud State Graduate Students

We have developed these synchronous orientation sessions to help you better understand the University as well Resources available to you as a student. Unable to attend at these times? Don't worry, these sessions will be recorded and posted on D2L/Brightspace for you to view later.

These sessions are for St. Cloud State students so you will register with your St. Cloud State email. Not set up yet? Visit our Information Technology Services website.

Technology Tools and Resources 5-6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11
The Technology Resources session offers an introduction to the technology you will use as a graduate student at St. Cloud State. We will cover email use, Huskynet, applications/software, accessing St. Cloud State at a distance and our learning management tool (D2L/Brightspace). There will be time for questions and answers.

Graduate Student Self-Care and Engagement, 5-6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19
Graduate education is both an opportunity and a transition. Join us to learn about resources to take care of you, get to know other students, and engage in graduate student life at St. Cloud State University. There will be time for questions and answers.

Register for the Self-Care and Engagement Session.

Campus Tours
New to campus? Take a tour with Graduate Studies and a small group of new graduate students.

Graduate Assistant Orientation — Newly Hired Graduate Assistants Only, 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug.
This hybrid (in-person or synchronous online) session will require pre-registration.

Student IDs

  • Online-only students can request a student ID card by uploading an headshot on a light background. No hats or sunglasses, please. Sign in to account management with your Star ID and password.
  • Standard practice is to pick up your ID card. If you are an online or distance student, please forward your email notification indicating your card is ready for pick-up to graduatestudies@stcloudstate.edu and include your current mailing address and we can pick-up and mail your card to you.
  • Plymouth students should follow these directions.

Get Ready Resources

  • ID number
    This eight-digit identifier can be found on your personal URL. It's can be used to create your Star ID. You can also look it up through E-services.
  • Set up your Email
    Email is the official form of communication at St. Cloud State so you do not want to miss out on important communications.
