Award Compliance

The administration of academic research and sponsored projects has grown more complex over the years. In collaboration with Research and Sponsored Programs, principal investigators (PIs) have ultimate responsibility for compliance with award terms and conditions, federal, state and local regulations, and University policies directly related to their research and/or sponsored projects.

Conflict of Interest

When financial or other personal considerations have the potential to adversely affect, or have the appearance of adversely affecting, an employee’s professional judgment.

Export Controls

Designed to protect national security and promote the foreign policy objectives of the U.S. and its allies.

Research with Animals

Must be reviewed and approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).

Research with Human Subjects

Must be reviewed and approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB).

Responsible Conduct in Research

The practice of scientific investigations with integrity. It encompasses the awareness and application of establish professional norms and ethical principles in the performance of all activities related to scientific research.

Effort Reporting

The process of certifying that salaries and wages charged to sponsored project accounts are reasonable in relation to the actual work performed.
