State-of-the-art equipment available in the Fitness Center and programs designed for people at every level of fitness. Our instructors are trained to push you to your limits, while meeting you at your ability level. They give you the confidence and guidance to improve.

Class Descriptions

CYCLE 

Cycle & Abs: 
Pedal, pedal, core! This class is a high intensity spin-based class that will have you in and out of that room feeling stronger and faster than ever before! Start out with some intense cycling followed by some core-busting circuits, we can’t wait to see you there!

Express Cycle: Burning thighs, pumping hearts, can’t lose. Come in for this 35-minute class to break up the monotony of your workday! With our high-energy instructors and music, you will not be disappointed by the ultimate cycling experience!

75 Minute Cycle/Power 45 Mix up: Lack time during the week to get your workout in?  Join us for a 75 minute high energy class. We will Cycle 10-12 miles then hit the floor for a core routine and high intensity circuit routine.

STRENGTH

Power 45: Kettlebells, Battling Ropes, Body Weight… Oh My! Variability training is key towards over health and wellness. Come to this class to elevate that heart rate, lift those weights, and get that body and mind stronger! The class format and workout will be different every time you train. Get all the high intensity training you need in just 45 minutes! We look forward to seeing you there!

Muscle Pump: Pump. Pump. Pump it up! Join us for this high energy, high intensity, and high repetition-based class. Each class will focus on boosting your body’s strength and efficiency from head to toe. Set to the rhythm of the music, this class will have your heart and body moving to the beat!

CARDIO

Cardio Kickboxing: Join us for this BRAND NEW class this semester! Created by our passionate and fierce instructors, this class is truly one-of-a-kind! Come in and learn how to punch, kick, and knee to the sound of our beat. Combinations, single strikes, and body weight exercises will be sure to ramp up your cardio this semester!

Strong by Zumba™: Start training to the beat. STRONG by Zumba® combines body weight, muscle conditioning, cardio and plyometric training moves synced to original music that has been specifically designed to match every single move. In each class you'll burn calories while toning arms, legs, abs and glutes. Explosive moves like high knees, burpees, and jumping jacks are interchanged with lunges, squats, and kickboxing.

MIND &  BODY

Pilates: This class will improve your overall wellness in just 45 minutes! Come ready to activate, isolate, and stabilize your core during this integrated class. Pilates will allow your body to move in a more fluid, safer, and efficient manner! Join us to help improve you posture, flexibility, and balance!

Restorative Pilates: How balanced is your fitness routine? Many of us engage in vigorous workouts while neglecting to restore muscles.  Restorative Pilates combines elements of yoga based sequences to reduce chances of injury while increasing mobility and balance.

Vinyasa Yoga: A new edition to our yoga programming has arrived! The flow of energy and postural sequences are key to this class. Come in for this 50-minute class that will challenge your body and mind as you progress through a series of poses that emphasize core stability, balance, and overall efficiency of your body’s movement. It is time to flow!

 Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga- Exercise your mind, body, and soul with mindful yoga. Sculpt and tone your body with this vigorous yoga series that raises your heart rate, releases endorphins, and helps you in all fields of life. All groups are welcomed, from beginner to expert.

 Yoga: Tough day? Week? Or maybe semester? Come to this brilliant weekly stress-down yoga class to help your mind and body come to a state of calm. Our instructors will provide your body the much-needed reset that it has been asking for! Gentle flows between postures and breathing techniques will be emphasized.

 Power Yoga: Want a challenge in your yoga routine? Power yoga challenges your muscles to build strength and balance throughout your body. This class is unlike any other yoga class that you have tried before! Add a little bit of a boost to your yoga routine today!

We've designed private workout classes for clubs, athletic teams, residence halls, sororities and academic classes. We can do it for you too!

Become an Instructor

Certification and Application

We can help you become certified as a group exercise instructor at St. Cloud State University.

Components of the comprehensive weekend warrior course include:

  • Anatomy
  • Counting and cueing
  • Class format
  • Choreography

A nationally certified exercise trainer will teach prospective instructors to lead:

  • Hi/lo impact cardio
  • Step
  • Aqua
  • Body sculpt
  • Cardio kick
  • Yoga
  • Pilates
  • Cycle
  • Stability ball
  • BOSU
  • Other fitness trends 

At the completion of the class, St. Cloud State participants can try out to join our Group Exercise team.

Group Exercise Instructor Training

Become a St. Cloud State certified Group Exercise Instructor. Components of the comprehensive weekend course includes: anatomy, counting & cueing, class format, and choreography. Trainees will be led by certified exercise trainers to teach hi/lo impact cardio, step, body sculpt, cardio kickboxing, yoga, Pilates, cycle, and many other new trends in fitness. At the completion of the class, St. Cloud State participants will have an opportunity to try out to join our Group Exercise team. 

Full attendance is required.

Weekend Training Agenda

Participants learn the basics of counting, cueing, Hi/Lo and anatomy.

  • 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Feb. 8
Review counting and cueing. Introduce Yoga and Pilates. Interview those trying out to become a St. Cloud State Group Exercise Instructor. Take anatomy quiz and practical assessment.
  • 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Feb. 9

Fees

St. Cloud State students: $75
Community members: $150
  • Payments are to be paid in full at the end of the informational meeting.
  • Cash, check and credit cards are accepted.
  • Fee includes three days of intensive training, training manual, study materials, coupons to group exercise classes and one-on-one instruction.

Sign-Up Options

This program trains St. Cloud State students group exercise instructors. It is also open to employees and community members seeking to teach group exercise classes.
