Herb Brooks National Hockey Center
Central Minnesota's premier hockey arena
Home of Huskies Hockey: Herb Brooks National Hockey Center
The Herb Brooks National Hockey Center is a premier 6,000-seat arena located on the south campus of St. Cloud State University. Since opening in December 1989, it has served as the proud home of the Huskies Men’s and Women’s Division I Ice Hockey teams. The main rink honors former university president Brendan J. McDonald, whose leadership helped elevate the hockey program to Division I status. In 2013, the facility was renamed in tribute to legendary coach Herb Brooks, a former SCSU and U.S. Olympic coach. Beyond hosting collegiate competition, the center supports student recreation through club hockey, intramural leagues, open skate, and open hockey programs—making it a vibrant hub for campus and community engagement.
