Pathway to 18 Concurrent Enrollment Credentialing
St. Cloud State has several affordable and convenient graduate offerings for current educators that can expand your expertise, add a secondary area of expertise or prepare you for educational leadership roles. Many programs offer online courses over the summer – mid May to early August.
Note: Candidates for Pathway to 18 certificates must either hold a master's degree or pair a certificate as an elective path with an initial master's degree. Certificates are beneficial to community college instructors to strengthen credentials and expand fields of teaching.
SCSU's Pathway to 18 programs are approved by the Minnesota State's Concurrent Enrollment Credentialing.
Social Studies
Each of the following graduate certificates are designed for Social Studies educators to enhance their knowledge and training through advanced content. Completion of the certificate fulfills the path-to-18 requirement to teach Senior-to-Sophomore or College-in-the-Schools courses. The certificate can be taken on its own or in combination with the Social Studies Education master's degree.
Each Social Studies certificate offers:
- Opportunities to travel and/or study at historic/civic sites both in the United States and internationally during the summer session
- No GRE required
- Select paths within the program available fully online
- Scholarships and Financial Aid available
- Can be completed in a few as three semesters

St. Cloud State can accommodate individual courses taken at your own pace or assist you in selecting a graduate program to reach your personal and professional goals.
Only need a course or two? Self- or employer-funded? Are you a concurrent enrollment educator needing additional credits? SCSU offers courses in Physics, Math and Chemistry.
Courses may be taken as a non-degree seeking student.
