Majoring or minoring in English brings you to know the world and to be able to position yourself within it.
Research shows the reliability of majoring in English for both career advancement and quality of life. Employers commonly promote English majors even beyond those technically trained in order to draw on their understanding of people and writing and communication skills for administration and management positions.

Teaching
English at St. Cloud State features one of the nation’s strongest writing center traditions, an internationally-recognized Teaching English as a Second Language and linguistics program, distinctive teaching by faculty who all have advanced degrees and are committed to the classroom, opportunities to study alongside master’s degree students and benefit from their expertise, and a culture of writing in which to immerse yourself.
