Graduation and Commencement Information
Congratulations, the hard work is over! At St. Cloud State, we strive to make the graduation process as straightforward as possible, so you and your loved ones can focus on celebrating your educational and personal achievements.
Undergraduate Requirements
Candidates for the Bachelor of Science degree in teacher education must meet the following academic standards to qualify for graduation
- Minimum of 120 undergraduate semester credits.
- Minimum 2.5 overall grade point average (only SCSU courses count in the overall GPA)
- Minimum 40 credits of coursework at the upper division (300-400) level

Graduation FAQs
Students should apply for graduation after registering for their last semester of courses.
Graduation honors are determined by your SCSU GPA and 30 graded upper division credits.
- Cum Laude: awarded to graduates with a GPA of 3.25–3.49
- Magna Cum Laude: awarded to graduates with a GPA of 3.5–3.74
- Summa Cum Laude: awarded to graduates with a GPA of 3.75 or higher
Black caps and gowns can be purchased online and in person at the Husky Bookstore, or from another provider.

Your diploma will be mailed approximately eight weeks following the end of the term. Make sure you confirm your delivery address in eServices, or email registrar@stcloudstate.edu if your diploma needs to be shipped out of the country.
