Experiential Learning
Real-World Experience for Academic and Professional Growth
Most programs include an experiential learning component as part of degree requirements. Experiential learning allows students to build knowledge and skills through hands-on experiences, paired with guided reflection.
A key strength of our programs is the integration of these real-world opportunities. Each semester, hundreds of students are placed at community sites, where they work with partners and individuals across the lifespan.
Placement Requirements
Many community partners require students to complete certain prerequisites before placement. These may include:
- Up-to-date immunization records
- A cleared criminal background check
- CPR and first aid certification
- A passed urine alcohol and drug screening
Requirements vary by site, and placement is not guaranteed.
