Understanding the cost of attending St. Cloud State University is an important step in planning your academic journey. This page provides a clear breakdown of tuition, fees, and estimated living expenses for international students—helping you make informed decisions and prepare for a successful experience in Minnesota.

Please note: 

  • All estimates are subject to change. Out-of-pocket expenses will vary depending on life-style choices. Estimates are made based on a 9-month stay.
  • The estimate of undergraduate tuition and fees is based on 15-18 credits per semester (30-36 credits per year). To maintain, valid F-1 student VISA status, an international student must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits per semester (24 credits per year) to be considered full-time.
  • The estimate of graduate tuition and fees is based on 8 credits per semester (16 credits per year). Eight credits per semester is considered full-time for immigration purposes.

Some finer details:
  • Students opt into the scholarship during orientation prior to the first semester and will need to maintain the scholarship criteria to receive the scholarship tuition amount after the first semester. Total amount needed on the financial document for the I-20 equals the $29,178 total with scholarship.
  • On the I-20, the tuition and fees are added together and will show the total cost of attendance without the scholarship as $21,384. The scholarship will be added on the funding side of the I-20 as $8,652 to offset the cost.
  • On-Campus Room and Board (housing and meal plan) is required for all first-year students for the first year. Learn More Here

Scholarships

The Academic and Cultural Sharing Scholarship offers reduced tuition rates to international students who meet and maintain eligibility requirements. Scholarship is applied during the first semester and is renewable each semester.
