Eligibility and Internship Position Requirements

Student Eligibility

To be eligible for an internship course, MBA students must meet the following qualifications:

  • Completion of at least six core (600-level) MBA courses
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Good academic standing (not on probation)

Position Requirements

In addition, the internship position must meet the following criteria:

  • Pay: Minimum wage or higher (unless interning at a nonprofit or government agency).
  • Length: Students must be enrolled in the internship course for at least 12 weeks. During fall and spring semesters, this allows for starting up to 4 weeks late, ending up to 4 weeks early, or completing the full 16 weeks.
  • Duties: Must include a significant number of responsibilities directly related to business. For example, a help desk position does not qualify for MBA internship credit because the duties are not substantial enough for graduate-level coursework.
  • Internship credit will not be applied retroactively.

IMPORTANT: If you are applying for an internship at a company where you are currently employed or have been employed (part-time or full-time), you must review and follow the Current Position Policy information.
