Todd Nichols

Anthony Todd Nichols is a licensed psychologist in the State of Minnesota. He has been executive director of the Family Attachment and Counseling Center, located in the Twin Cities, since 1997.  Dr. Nichols was an Assistant Professor for St. Cloud State University for 2+ years.  

The center specializes in working with adopted children who experienced early life maltreatment and their families. Dr. Nichols works with adults and children who have experienced trauma, and he is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Much of his clinical work includes male who have sexual addiction issues.

Dr. Nichols holds two master’s degrees in Latin American studies and public affairs from the University of Texas at Austin. He obtained his doctorate in clinical psychology from Walden University. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Association for Treatment and Training in the Attachment of Children (ATTACh) and was a member of the Task Force on Attachment Therapy, Reactive Attachment Disorder, and Attachment Problems for the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (APSAC).

His research interests include attachment theory, the impact of adoption from international institutions on long term mental health, and developmental psychology.
