Undergraduate Placement Testing

Placement testing for new students at St. Cloud State University consists of the ACCUPLACER for Reading Comprehension and Math placement. Other tests, such as Biology, are available as determined by a student's intended major.

The purpose of the ACCUPLACER Placement Test is to provide you and the University with information about your current academic skill levels. 

The results of the test will assist you and your academic advisor in selecting appropriate courses and support services as well as help you plan a course of study so you may have a successful college experience.


  • Mathematics: Elementary Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, College Level Math
  • Reading/English: Reading Comprehension, ESL Reading, ESL Listening
  • Biology 202 Human Anatomy & Physiology I
  • PSEO: Mathematics and English
  • S2S: Mathematics and English
  • CCCP: Mathematics and English

    With proper preparation and careful focus, you're sure to earn a great score on your placement test and set yourself up for a successful college experience. 

  • Walk-in Testing Available

    Walk-in ACCUPLACER testing will be offered the first week of classes, Aug. 26-Aug. 30. Stop by Brown Hall 115 between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. The last exam will start by 3 p.m., so late arrivals cannot be accommodated.
