Undergraduate Placement Testing

  1. Get plenty of sleep and eat well in the week before your test. If you are overtired, you may have poor concentration and good nutrition allows for optimal performance.

  2. Arrive at the test center at your appointed time. This will ensure you have plenty of time to complete your exam.

  3. Try to relax. Remember that your college or university is administering this test to help you.

  4. No one passes or fails ACCUPLACER tests, but it’s important to complete the test using your best effort, so you and your college have an accurate measure of your academic skills.

  5. The Biology test is 60 minutes for 50 questions.

  6. There’s no time limit on the math and reading tests, so you can focus on doing your best to demonstrate your skills.

  7. Pay attention to the instructions before you begin the test.

  8. Test time officially begins when the first question is displayed.

  9. All ACCUPLACER tests use a multiple-choice format.

  10. Remember to answer every question and confirm your answer before you precede to the next question.
    • You will not be able to change your answer or return to the question after submitted.

    • If you are not sure of an answer to a question, start by eliminating the incorrect answers, then make your best guess from the remaining choices.
