Online Student Technology Resources

An online program offers a lot of flexibility. In order to get the most out of this benefit, a personal computer with internet access is essential for completing assignments and interacting with others.

Run a system check

Online courses at St. Cloud State schools are delivered using D2L Brightspace. Before using D2L Brightspace, please make sure your computer meets the minimum requirements:

  • Ensure that your browser has JavaScript and Cookies enabled.
  • You must have the ability to check email. Remember, St. Cloud State email is the official form of communication with your professors.
  • If multimedia is used in a course, you will need a sound card with speakers/headphones.
  • You will need standard versions of at least Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. These programs are available for free to students through Office 365.

Free Online Tutoring

Tutor.com is a free online tutoring and academic support tool which allows all St. Cloud State students to access an extensive list of online tutoring.

You can get a tutor 24/7 in more than 40 subjects including Math, Science, Social Studies, English, AP® Support, Foreign Languages and Business. Tutoring sessions take place in our easy-to-use online classroom, which runs in your web browser.

  • Minnesota State has purchased 15 hours of Tutor.com tutoring for every student.

Log into your D2L Brightspace homepage; under "Resources" access "Tutor.com".

Free Tutoring on Campus

Many departments on campus offer free tutoring services to students. Visit the Acadmic Support Services website for a full list of departments that offer free tutoring services.
