As a Languages and Cultures student, you will learn to value diversity and intercultural understanding through interactive classroom settings and experiential learning such as internships, community engagement and education abroad. We prepare life-long learners to function in and contribute to any career and community.

We transform our students’ experience of the world through discovery and exploration of different cultures, service to their local and global communities and we provide them with the capacity to forge lasting and meaningful relationships. 

Languages and Cultures is part of the Department of Humanities at St. Cloud State University, together with English, History, and Philosophy. The Department of Humanities advances the study of human experience through language, culture, and ideas.

In Languages and Cultures, we embrace linguistic and cultural diversity as central to understanding the human condition. Studying languages opens windows into global perspectives, fostering empathy, communication, and appreciation of cultural richness in an interconnected world.
