Welcome new Huskies! In addition to your two-day on campus orientation schedule on this page, check your D2L for a required, self-paced online version designed to help you feel prepared, confident, and connected as you begin your journey at SCSU.

Students are assessed a one-time $75 orientation fee to support this programming.

Saturday, Jan. 10

10 a.m. to 1 p.m. New Student Move-in 

  • Check in at your assigned residential hall
  • Required for all residential students

10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Orientation Check-in and Welcome Reception

  • Check in at the Atwood Lobby
  • Required for all residential students
  • Free t-shirt!
  • Refreshments
  • Family and friends are invited too!

11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Academic Advising Drop-In

  • Centennial Hall
    • HBS program students to go 4th floor
    • All other students go to 3rd floor
  • Our advisors are available for quick, drop-in questions to assist with course planning, registration, major exploration, and other academic concerns. No appointment is necessary—just bring your questions and get the guidance you need to start your semester with confidence!

 1-2 p.m. Welcome to the Pack

  • Atwood Cascade Room
  • Enjoy an energizing welcome from Dr. Jason Woods, Vice President for Strategic Enrollment Management, and SCSU’s new President, Gregory Tomso. Meet the Orientation Team, learn what to expect over the next two days, connect with fellow students, and enjoy opportunities to win prizes. 
  • Required for all new students

2:15-3:15/3:45 p.m. Academic Orientation

  • Atwood Cascade (COSE students will meet in Cascade travel together to ISELF and meet until 3:45 p.m.)
  • Get ready to launch your academic journey! Meet faculty, staff, and leaders from your college, learn important details about your program or major, and discover the resources that will help you succeed. This is your chance to ask questions, connect with your academic community, and start preparing for your first classes. Pack Leaders will guide you to your Academic Orientation location.
  • Required for all new students

4-5 p.m. You've Got This, We've Got You!

  • Location: Atwood Cascade Room
  • Get an overview of key campus services, resources, and support systems designed to help you thrive at SCSU. Learn how our team is here to guide you throughout your journey so you can feel confident and prepared every step of the way. 

5:30-7 p.m. Dinner with Husky Packs

  • Garvey Commons
  • Enjoy dinner at Garvey with your Pack Leaders.

6-8 p.m. Huskies After Hours

  • Atwood Underground
  • Join us for Atwood After Dark—an evening of fun and connection! Enjoy bowling, ping pong, billiards, and more as you unwind, meet new friends, and kick off your SCSU experience in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. 

Sunday, Jan. 11

10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Info Table and Huskies First Four Check-in

  • Atwood Lobby
  • Students arriving for Huskies First Four for the first time should check in. Students only need to check in once for the event. 

10-10:45 a.m. Husky Tech 101

  • Atwood Cascade Room
  • Get started with the technology tools you’ll use at SCSU! Learn the basics of campus email, StarID vs. TechID, D2L Brightspace, eServices, printing, and more. 
  • Light refreshments provided.

11-11:45 a.m. Campus Tour

  • Tours will depart from Atwood Cascade Room
  • Take a guided tour of SCSU and get to know the campus! Visit key buildings, learn about important resources, and discover the spaces that will be part of your Husky experience. Connect with fellow students as you explore your new home away from home.

Noon to 1:30 p.m. Lunch with Husky Packs

  • Garvey Commons
  • Get to know your Pack Leaders and fellow Huskies over lunch. 

5-6:30 p.m. Dinner with Husky Packs
