Scholarships

The Art and Barb Grachek Scholarships
This scholarship is awarded to students who are active participants in a Communication Studies department-affiliated student organization. The scholarship recipient must be a full-time student with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. Multiple scholarships are awarded each year.   

Ray Pedersen Memorial Scholarships
These scholarships are awarded to undergraduate students with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 who show talent in communication arts and are affiliated with the Department of Communication Studies.

The Charles & Carol Vick Scholarships for Non-Traditional Students
This scholarship is awarded to a Communication Studies major who is a non-traditional student (at least 25 years of age) and who demonstrates academic achievement in the field of Communication Studies.  

The Robert and Alice Wick Scholarships
These scholarships are awarded to juniors and seniors who are majoring in Communication Studies and who show leadership potential.  

The Robert and LuBell Kendall Ethics Awards  
This award for outstanding paper in communication ethics is given to a Communication Studies major or minor who demonstrates outstanding scholarship in the area of communication ethics. 

Judy C. Pearson Scholarships
These scholarships are awarded to a CMST major with a GPA of 3.5 or higher with special consideration given to first generation college students and/or female applicants. 

Judy C. Pearson Diversity Scholarships
These scholarships are awarded to full-time CMST majors and minors who are members of an underrepresented population at SCSU. 

Judy C. Pearson Communication Studies Education Abroad Scholarships
These scholarships are awarded to CMST majors and minors participating in an education abroad experience. 

Judy C. Pearson Scholarships for First Year Students
These scholarships are awarded to new entering freshmen who have chosen the CMST major. Special consideration given to financial need.

Judy C. Pearson Scholarships for Transfer Students
These scholarships are awarded to new entering transfer students who have chosen the CMST major.  Special consideration given to financial need. 

Noah Joseph Salzbrun Memorial Scholarship
These scholarships are awarded to sophomores. The student must be enrolled full-time and employed an average of 10 hours or more a week. Special consideration will be given to students who are an admitted major in Communication Studies or Real Estate

Soroko/Ditlevson Service Scholarship
The Soroko – Ditlevson Service scholarship recognizes students who have demonstrated significant involvement in volunteer and service activities. Applicants must meet the following guidelines: Be of the first generation in his/her family to attend college; involved in volunteer and/or community service while a student at SCSU; be a major in Business, Communication Studies or Mass Communications; and maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 or above.
