Academic Learning Center (ALC)


We offer tutoring for general education courses in more than 15 subject areas.

  • Arrange a tutoring appointment:
    1. Go to "Tutor Schedule" located in the menu to the left of these instructions. This is to see the tutors' schedule and the class(es) they tutor
    2. Log on to the scheduling website.
      Log in with your StarID and password.
      If you have trouble logging in please stop in to the tutor center, Centennial Hall 236, and check in with the person at the front desk in CH 236. Otherwise, call 320-308-4993.
    3. Click on "Search for availabilities" in the top left side of the page. It should open a new page
    4. Choose a Center: Academic Learning Center
    5. Use the Drop Down for "Consultant" to find and select the name of the tutor you seek to meet with. (Optional)
      To see the tutor's schedule and the class(es) they tutor, go to "Tutor Schedule" located in the menu to the left of these instructions.
    6. Leave the box for "Pick a section" blank
    7. Click on "Search" on the bottom left of the screen. The availability of the tutor you selected in step 4 will be shown. If you skipped step 4, the calendar will show the availability of every tutor in the schedule.
    8. Click on the 30 minute block that works best for you, under the name of the tutor of your choice. The time on the block is the start time for that block and is also the time you will be meeting with the tutor.
    9. In the dialog box that just opened, provide a subject, reason and student ID Number.
    10. Click "Save" once you are done. You will receive an email confirming your appointment.
  • Canceling a tutor appointment:
    1. Log on to the scheduling website.
    2. Find your appointment in the main menu, under the title "Upcoming Appointments"
    3. Click on the cross "X" to cancel. Then click "Confirm Cancellation" in the dialog box that pops up.
      You will receive an email confirming the cancellation. 
  • Email with questions or concerns about the tutor scheduling system.
  • Some departments have their own tutors. They should be contacted directly.

Tutor Request

If we do not have a tutor for a subject or course you need, please complete the tutor request form. If we see enough demand for a particular course, we will try to find a tutor in that area.



Include prefix, number and section (ie: CHEM 210 02)

Reason for request:

 No tutor listed for this course
 Tutor listed, but they are always booked with appointments
 Tutor listed, but not at a time I can attend
