Department of Theatre and Film Studies

Student Opportunities

Our Theatre program conducts auditions for acting roles for specific productions throughout the year. Auditions might include improvisation, reading from scripts or performing a prepared monologue or song. All currently enrolled students at St. Cloud State University are welcome to audition and serve in production and design positions.

Open House

Open House is an annual event planned by students for students. This event, hosted by Dramatic Action, offers the first and best chance for potential theatre majors and minors to become familiar with our faculty, students and department facilities. All students who wish to participate in theatre - regardless of major or minor - are welcome to attend.

Student Film Festival

Our Film Studies program at St. Cloud State University is seeking submissions from current students and alumni for the Student Film Festival. The Film Festival will take place at 7 p.m. April 29,2016 at Center Stage Auditorium. The festival will screen a selection of current student work drawn from the Film Studies program. For more information, please contact Ilya Simakov at Submissions are due April 1.

International Film Festival

Our International Film Festival is a campus tradition. Students, faculty and staff, as well as members of the St. Cloud community have the opportunity to vote for their favorite films, directors and actors. This festival contributes to the necessary appreciation of new artistic and multicultural expression.

Student Organizations

Dramatic Action

Dramatic Action offers students a forum for theatrical activities that complements their curricular activities with our department. The organization provides assistance to our department during auditions, performances and festivals. The student members also produce shows, organize trips to conferences, conduct fundraisers, teach workshops, host high school visits, participate in departmental committee work and conclude the year with an annual awards banquet.
