Land Surveying/Mapping Science

The Land Surveying/Mapping Science BS provides advanced coursework in Geomatics and Land Surveying that builds on technical knowledge degree candidates have upon entry into the program to produce graduates who are prepared for Licensure as a Land Surveyor and success in their careers. Course content areas include Cadastral Surveying, Boundary Law, Coordinate Systems and Datums, Data Adjustment, Geodesy, GIS, GNSS/GPS, Remote Sensing, and Site Development.
Students entering the Bachelor’s Degree in Land Surveying/Mapping Science must have completed an associate degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, or equivalent coursework and/or work experience as approved by the program director.
Program Highlights
- All surveying-specific courses are offered on-campus and online.
- Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Lab that allows hands-on mapping training.
- Experience creating topographic, aeronautical, hydrographic and orthophoto maps.
- Access to a variety of surveying equipment and the latest in surveying related software such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Pathfinder, Surfer, and STARNET.
