How a Pregnant or Parenting Student Can Request Modifications

St. Cloud State University and the Office for Institutional Equity and Access are committed to ensuring the University’s programs and activities are accessible to all students. This includes students who may be pregnant, experiencing a pregnancy-related condition, or parenting a child under the age of 18.

We recognize that pregnant and parenting students may need reasonable modifications or adjustments to have equitable opportunities to participate in, or benefit from, programs, services, and activities of the University. With this in mind, the University has a process for pregnant and parenting students to request reasonable modifications or adjustments to assist them in their success.

Process for Requesting Reasonable Modifications

There are two ways for a student to submit a request for a reasonable modification.

  1. Submit our online request form: Pregnant and Parenting Request for Services
  2. Contact the Office for Institutional Equity and Access:
    Administrative Services; 121

Submitting a modification request is just the first step in the process and does not guarantee any specific requested modification. If you have questions, contact the Office for Institutional Equity and Access. Once a modification request has been submitted, the Office for Institutional Equity and Access will assist students in completing the remainder of the process, including:

Step 1: Request for Modifications

  • The student submits the online modification request form
  • The student meets with the Title IX Coordinator or Designee

Step 2: Determination of Reasonable Modifications

  • Title IX Coordinator or designee determines reasonable modifications
    • This may be done in consultation with the student, the faculty, and other campus professionals via an interactive process.
  • Title IX Coordinator or designee send a modification notice to each of the student’s faculty identifying the specific modifications to be implemented.

Part 3: Implementation

  • The student sends a request to their faculty to implement the modifications.
  • The student and faculty work together to create a plan for implementation.
  • The Title IX coordinator or designee is available to support and advocate as needed

NOTE: The order of the step may change based on the specific needs of each request.
