Ensemble

Women's Choir

The Women's Choir provides, for any female student on campus, the opportunity to study and perform distinctive literature for women's voices including classical choral music, contemporary works, world music, folk songs and spirituals. Long-term relationships develop out of the musical experiences that are shared by choir members during rehearsals and performances.

Choir members take pride in the work they do in preparation for performances, which typically occur near the end of each semester. A highly regarded annual concert celebrating the rich diversity in the lives of women and girls is presented each spring in collaboration with Cantabile Girls' Choir and female Department of Music faculty members.

Entrance Requirements

The St. Cloud State Women’s Choir is open to any female student on campus, regardless of major, and without audition. Whether you are an aspiring music professional or simply someone who loves to sing, we want you in the Women’s Choir!  Just register for MUSP 161 and plan on a great semester of singing!

Ensemble highlights

  • Each spring the choir presents "Her Story, Her Song" an award-winning concert honoring the female experience through word, song and action. In preparation for this event, choir members work with a community service agency focusing on issues pertinent to girls and women.  This highly regarded concert has become a model of collaboration and community outreach, and is one of the highlights of year.

  • The ensemble has regular performances at the American Choral Director’s Association Men’s/Women’s Chorus Festival, a yearly event with hundreds of singers at St. John’s University in Collegeville.

  • The choir performs and collaborates with other St. Cloud State music ensembles.
  • The choir performed a benefit concert for Anna Marie’s Alliance, in collaboration with women’s choirs from College of St. Benedict, St. Scholastica, St. Thomas, and University of Northwestern.
