Huskies Advising and Registration

Preparing for Your Day

To make the most out of your Huskies Advising and Registration experience, be sure to complete the following:

Virtual Advising and Registration Preparation Guide

Use this document to help yourself prepare for your virtual Huskies Advising & Registration Day. You'll receive a link to join the Zoom event three business days before your chosen date. You'll also receive an email from your advisor before the event with an assigned academic advising appointment time. Both emails will be sent to your St. Cloud State email.

After you complete your virtual Advising & Registration Day, visit the "After Your Day" page to complete a few more next steps.

Activate Your StarID

Your StarID and password are required to sign up for Huskies Advising and Registration. It will also be used to log in to St. Cloud State campus computers and technology services when registering for classes. If you haven't activated your StarID, you can do so online using your Tech ID or the email address you used to submit your application to St. Cloud State.

Activate your StarID

If you have already activated your StarID, you should receive it in an email two weeks before your Huskies Advising and Registration Day. If you can't remember your StarID or need to reset your password, assistance is available online.

Complete Your FAFSA

We encourage all students to apply for federal and state financial aid.

Financial aid includes grants, work study, scholarships and loans, and is available to all income levels. Applying for financial aid is free when you use the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). St. Cloud State's federal school code is 002377.

We recommend that you apply for financial aid each year in early October.

Transferring to St. Cloud State from another school? Remember to ask your previous school to cancel any pending financial aid for the term you are transferring to St. Cloud State.

Immunization Form

If you did not graduate from a Minnesota high school, or if you graduated from a high school prior to 1997, you are required to fill out an immunization form prior to registering for courses.

Please visit Medical Clinic and Pharmacy Immunization for instructions and a link to the online immunization form. If you have questions about this requirement, please contact the Medical Clinic and Pharmacy at (320) 308-3191.

College-Level Transcripts

If you have completed college-level courses, compile a list of these courses completed, including PSEO or other college courses offered at your high school, and bring them with you to your day.

For college transfer students, make sure you have your college transcripts from the college or university you are transferring from to your day. This will help smooth the process of registering for classes when meeting with your adviser.

Placement Testing

Students may need to complete the Accuplacer Placement test to determine eligibility for certain classes. We offer the English and Math placement tests, and specific tests required are based on the major provided at the time of application.

Not all students will need to take a placement test. If you do, we will contact you prior to your Huskies Advising and Registration Day with instructions on how to schedule your placement test. Placement tests can be taken at St. Cloud State University or at a Minnesota State college near you. Visit the Placement Testing website for more information or for assistance scheduling your placement test.

We will offer placement testing on your Huskies Advising and Registration Day (with the exception of PSEO students), but encourage you to complete required testing before this to ensure that our advisors make the best possible course recommendations for you.

Choose Your First-Year Experience

All new students are encouraged to choose a first-year experience to enrich their academic experience. You will be emailed prior to your Advising and Registration Day to tell us more about your interests. First-year experiences include:

  • Honors Program
  • ACE Program
  • Living-Learning Community or Learning Community
  • Education Abroad
  • First-Year Seminar

Student Accessibility Services

If you or a guest require accommodations at your Advising and Registration Day, it is important you contact Student Accessibility Services at least two weeks prior to the event. Without timely notice, we cannot guarantee accommodations can be met.

This is for requesting accommodations at your Advising and Registration Day only.
