A Strategic Path for SCSU

St. Cloud State University is taking bold, strategic steps to realign the university's academic and administrative structures to meet the realities of today's higher education landscape. The proposed plan would establish three strong, more integrated academic units, each with a distinct focus and robust program offerings. This transformation will position the university to better serve students, foster innovation, and strengthen partnerships with industry and the community.

The proposal is rooted in building on the strengths that make St. Cloud State such a vital institution for our students and community, while addressing a $14.5 million budget shortfall that is projected over the next two years.

Key Objectives of Plan

  • Academic Strength: Enhance interdisciplinary collaboration and student navigation
  • Financial Sustainability: Align resources with current financial realities and address a projected $14.5 million budget shortfall over the next two years.
  • Operational Efficiency: Streamline and strengthen administrative structures to support more effective operations.

Collaborative Leadership

Led by Interim President Dietz, senior leaders are providing vision and oversight to ensure the restructuring aligns with long-term institutional goals. The final restructuring plan will be the result of thoughtful collaboration among university leadership, bargaining units, and student government. These stakeholders are encouraged to be actively engaged in the process, ensuring that decisions reflect the university's mission and strategic priorities.

  • Steering Committee: A dedicated committee is responsible for gathering input, analyzing data, and shaping recommendations. This committee includes Provost Pattit, VP Jason Woods, VP Golombiecki, and VP Siminoe.
  • President's Cabinet: The Cabinet is reviewing and advising on the proposal's strategic direction, with a focus on institutional impact and alignment with presidential priorities.
  • Provost's Council: Academic leaders within the Provost's Council are contributing insights on academic structures, faculty engagement, and student success to inform the proposal's academic components.

Commitment to Collaboration

This proposed realignment is designed to streamline administrative structures, focus leadership on shared goals and make it easier for students to navigate their academic journey.
