Financing your Education

Our commitment to helping you further your education extends to our financial-aid program. Every year we use a wide variety of scholarships, grants and loans to give out more than $100 million in need-based aid. That means approximately 88% of our students get some form of financial assistance every year.

Scholarships

We offer a variety of scholarship opportunities to our students including:

  • First-Year Student Scholarships
Students who are admitted to the University by March 1 will receive automatic consideration for these merit-based awards.
  • Cultural Diversity Scholarships
New students who contribute to the cultural diversity at St. Cloud State will be automatically considered for these awards.
  • Transfer Student Scholarships
We provide awards to students transferring to St. Cloud State who possess strong academic credentials.
  • Non-Resident Tuition Scholarships
Our Non-Residential Tuition Scholarships are awarded to new student who do not otherwise qualify for in-state or reciprocity tuition. Recipients pay the equivalent of in-state tuition.
  • Academic and Cultural Sharing Scholarships
ACSS promotes interaction and cross-cultural understanding among international students, domestic students and the community. Students receiving this award will be granted in-state tuition.

Grants & Loans

In addition to scholarships, we also encourage students to apply for state and federal grants through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov. If students need additional assistance, we also offer guidance on applying for private loans - but not without helping them understand the rights and responsibilities of student borrowers. No matter how much aid our students may need, we offer loan entrance and exit counseling to help them manage their student loans.
