Alternative Testing Procedures

Some students registered at St. Cloud State University may require alternative testing arrangements. Students with visual, mobility, learning/cognitive, or hearing impairments may qualify under the guidelines currently in place as prescribed by federal and state laws. Professional staff members employed by Student Accessibility Services (SAS) supervise students who qualify for alternative testing and testing is done in the SAS office unless you make other appropriate arrangements.

It is the responsibility of the student to make arrangements for alternative testing.

He/she will bring you a form requesting alternative testing. It is our policy that alternative test forms be turned into the SAS office at least three business days prior to the test date to ensure the necessary accommodations can be made. We cannot have students just “drop in the office” to take their exams.

The student should have the following information completed on the alternative testing form:

  1. Student’s name
  2. Class
  3. Professor’s name
  4. Indication of need (e.g. extended time, need to have test read, need to dictate test, need for quiet space, etc.)

You will be asked to complete the following information:

  1. Date the test will be taken
  2. Time the test is to be taken
  3. You may choose to have the test delivered to the SAS office or to have the SAS staff pick up the test. If you wish to have us pick up the test please provide the building and room number and also indicate which time is better for picking up the test: 10:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m.
  4. List any assistive materials or equipment that the student is allowed to use during the test (e.g. calculator, electronic speller/thesaurus, notecards, open-book, etc.)
  5. Your signature
