Support Your Library

St. Cloud State University Library provides exceptional collections, spaces, services, and technologies to the students, faculty, and researchers who visit our library. We inspire innovation, support research, and cultivate scholarship by connecting people, ideas, and resources.

Gifts to University Library support the delivery of core services and resources for students including access to information resources to support learning and scholarship and interdisciplinary programming that enriches learning. 

When you make a gift to St. Cloud State University Library, you invest in the success of all of our students and the research efforts of our renowned faculty. Your support is deeply appreciated.

University Library collections contain scholarly resources that the curriculum. We gladly accept the following donations that are in good condition and free from defects, including: 

  • Award-winners 
  • Works by campus authors 
  • Materials by Minnesota authors 
  • Items that reflect diverse perspectives 
  • Resources assigned for courses 

Please note that all donated materials become the property of St. Cloud State University.  University Library does not assign specific monetary value to donated items. The final determination regarding whether to add a particular item to the collection is made by a Librarian in accordance with our Collection Development Policy 

University Library hosts a textbook collection with hundreds of current semester textbooks available for 2-hour checkout. We welcome donation of textbooks and other course-required materials. 

University Library Creativity Commons supports access to specialized equipment for multimedia production, digitization and preservation, and creative projects. Items we particularly need include: 

  • Scissors 
  • Glue (and a hot glue gun) 
  • Markers 
  • Colored pencils 
  • Crayons 
  • Fabric 
  • Ribbon 
  • Yarn 
  • Thread 
  • Buttons 
  • Pipe cleaners 
  • Beading supplies 
  • Poster board 
  • Construction paper 
  • Cardstock 
  • Old magazines 

The Library of Things contains a variety of items available for short-term checkout by current members of our campus community. We are in need of items in the following categories to help support students in their course work, hobbies and creative endeavors, and in support of life on campus: 

  • Multimedia  
  • Events and Promotion 
  • Activities and Experience 
  • Arts, Crafts, Hobbies 
  • Dorm, Home, Car 

University Library, in partnership with the SCSU Community Garden, Honors College, Huskies Food Pantry, and SCL Herbarium and Biology Greenhouses, is establishing a seed library This new service offering will become available around August 1, 2026 We welcome donation of seeds and gardening supplies. 

University Archives accepts archival materials, rare books, and other gifts-in-kind related to St. Cloud State University. Your contributions support the work of University Archives in preserving the history of St. Cloud State University. Please contact Archivist Tom Steman to discuss potential donations.
