Huskies in the High School (HHS)

What is Huskies in the High School?

Our program connects high-achieving high school students with key resources on the St. Cloud State University campus while allowing them to remain in their high school. They accelerate their learning and prepare for a future on a campus.

We consider several parameters for each Huskies in the High School (HHS) course -- subject matter, department requirements, the faculty partner and the high school instructor.

Courses offered through concurrent enrollment programming (Huskies in the High School) match the rigor and learning objetives of the courses taught on-campus. Some departments provide a syllabus for the course; others allow a faculty partner-instructor collaboration. Any syllabus must be approved before the course begins by the respective St. Cloud State University academic department. HHS faculty partners ensure that instructors meet specific department requirements, learning objectives and prerequisites.

Academic departments and their faculty determine whether the instructor's credentials meet the requirements. They approve the instructor, textbook, and curriculum. Each course reflects the pedagogical, theoretical and philosophical orientation of the department.

We encourage campus visits that engage in active learning to give students access to resources and a full understanding of the campus experience.

Finally, we use assignments and exams to assess and evaluate a student's success in the course.
