Industrial/Organizational Psychology (M.S.)

The Industrial Organizational Psychology program will prepare you to find solutions in the workplace. You will learn to use psychological principles to understand behavior and improve the productivity and quality of work life of employees at any organizational level. You will study psychological theories and techniques you can put to work in employee selection, training and evaluation.

Program Highlights

  • Experiential learning engages students in applying concepts and often interacting with the business community.
  • Faculty and students actively support and participate in networking, including local and national conferences and meeting.
  • Two to three graduate assistantships are available for fall and spring semesters.
  • Students work in a cooperative learning experience and are encouraged to collaborate on class and other projects.

Program Distinctions

  • Faculty and students have produced nearly 50 publications and presentations in refereed journals and at juried national conferences such as the Society of Industrial Psychology.
  • Ranked 14th nationally in program resources 9th on tuition costs in the latest (2004) survey by the Society for Industrial-Organizational Psychology (SIOP). 
  • The annual I-O Guest Lecture/Speaker Series has featured both local and national I-O psychology practitioners from organizations such as Wells Fargo, 3M, Korn/Ferry International, PDI and the U.S. Navy. 
  • Faculty bring real-world examples from a wide variety of applied experiences they've collectively had in the I-O field working with client national and international organizations.
