Students ride the Jail Trail east of campus

The great outdoors begins in our back yard and extends to the Canadian border.

Walking distance from your classrooms are the Beaver Islands, a maze of more than 30 Mississippi River islands that are home to an amazing array of animals. Paddle among the islands on a kayak or bike past them on the Beaver Islands Trail.

Drive 10 minutes and you're fishing, hiking, biking, swimming, geocaching and skiing among water-filled quarries at Quarry Park and Nature Preserve. In 30 minutes you can be snowboarding at Powder Ridge Ski Area. In less than an hour you're exploring the 30,000-acre Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge. On less than a tank of gas you can be camping among the lakes of Voyageurs National Park or sailing on Lake Superior, the world’s largest freshwater lake.

If you need help planning a trip or excursion, Outdoor Endeavors offers outdoor trips, clinics and workshops to help you discover your outdoor skills. At St. Cloud State, we make it easy to explore everything that mother nature has to offer.
