Sport management prepares you for leadership opportunities at all levels of sport in a variety of specialties and job responsibilities. You'll put your skills to work in a required full-time internship that puts your academic training into practice and increases your professional networks. 

Program Highlights

  • Small classes focus on theoretical foundations, practical situations and applied learning in sports settings
  • Curriculum includes off-campus tours, guest lectures from sports industry leaders and a required internship
  • Assistantships are offered through Innersole, Athletics and Campus Recreation
  • Problem-based learning approach exposes students to working in teams, developing creativity and initiative and enhancing written and oral communication skills
  • Elective classes allow students to build a curriculum to meet their personal academic and career goals

Program Distinctions

  • NCAA Division I men’s and women’s hockey and 17 Division II sports
  • Proximity to Minneapolis and St. Paul extends sports management opportunities to the region’s men’s and women’s professional sports teams, roller derby and minor league baseball
  • Graduates have worked for the U.S. Olympic Committee, U.S. Swimming, Minnesota professional sports teams, college teams and athletic conferences, school districts and recreation and fitness facilities
