Transfer Information

Planning to Transfer to CLA program?

All students planning to transfer to St. Cloud State University should follow the admission procedures located on the Admissions Office website. Once admitted to St. Cloud State University, students (with 24+ credits) will be assigned a faculty advisor in their major program to assist with their academic planning.

Students who are planning to transfer are encouraged to contact Hien Studniski, the CLA Student Relations Director, as soon as possible to discuss transfer into CLA programs. Every major in the College of Liberal Arts (CLA) and School of the Arts (SotA) has different requirements. To view the academic requirements for each major, please visit the Undergraduate Catalog.

Transferring Courses to SCSU

To transfer courses to St. Cloud State University, please send your transcript(s) to the Office of Records and Registration.  For MN State institutions, you can request an e-transcript.

Students will need their Star ID in order to complete a transfer request. If you do not yet have a Star ID, learn how to activate it now.

Once transcripts are evaluated, and there are transfer courses that you want to go into a specific program, you would need to have the course(s) be evaluated by those individual departments for equivalencies.  Please complete the transfer request for this process. Course Syllabi are typically needed for evaluation.

Transferology

Students are also encouraged to use Transferology  to see how courses will transfer into academic programs into the College of Liberal Arts. If your school or course is not listed in Transferology, contact the Student Relations Director to help you determine how your credits will transfer.

Transfer Pathways

Minnesota State Transfer Pathways are designed so you can complete a specific associate degree at a Minnesota State college and transfer to a Minnesota State university to earn a bachelor’s degree without losing credits or taking extra courses.

Articulation Agreements

Articulation agreements are formal agreements between St. Cloud State and other institutions to accept transfer credits toward a specific academic program. View articulation agreements.
