Math and Science Tutoring

Need extra support in your classes? The College of Arts and Sciences provides tutoring in math and the sciences to help you stay on track and build confidence. Peer tutors are here to help you better understand course material and succeed in your studies.

Students can check their course syllabus or contact programs directly for additional information about availability and scheduling of tutoring services.

About Our Tutoring Services

Science and Math Tutoring Centers open the second Wednesday of the semester and remain open through finals week. Tutoring sessions are not held when classes are not in session, including snow days, holidays, academic breaks, and summer. If you are in need of tutoring services for summer courses, please contact individual departments for information regarding availability of tutors.

  • Each area have calendars with available times, format, and locations.
  • All sessions are drop-in with no appointment required.
  • Tutors will respond to questions on a first-come/first-served basis; all participants will benefit from the review.
  • Tutoring Centers prioritize support for subjects identified as being in high demand.

Tutoring Tips

Be prepared: Bring your assignment and/or study material, St. Cloud State ID card, and questions about your homework.

  • Tutoring is primarily for students in 100- and 200-level courses.
  • Assistance for 300- and 400-level classes is not guaranteed. We advise making an office appointment with your professor during their student support hours.
  • Tutors do not complete homework for students. 
  • Tutors cannot instruct students about content students missed while absent.
  • Students check-in when they arrive and check-out as they leave.
  • Tutoring spaces may be used by study groups.

Coordinator

Math and Science tutoring is coordinated by Dr. Sarah Petitto, Professor of Chemistry. All other College of Arts and Sciences tutoring are facilitated through the program and/or department.
