Undergraduate and Graduate Programs

B.S. Special Education

Students in the special education major learn to identify and teach students who have a range of learning, emotional and physical disabilities including mild-moderate autism spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities, emotional/ behavioral disorders and learning disabilities. 

A minor in Special Education is also offered and is a non-teaching minor. 

M.S. Special Education

The Special Education program will prepare you to create effective teaching and learning environments for individuals with disabilities in state, national and global communities. 

Graduate Certificates

Academic and Behavioral Strategist

The Academic and Behavioral Strategist certificate program provides you with knowledge of behavior theories and practices in special education.

Autism

The Autism certificate program will provide you with advanced specialized training to work with early childhood children through high school students with autism spectrum disorders.

Candidates must have a teaching license to gain admission into this program.

Autism Spectrum Disorders

You will gain an introduction to techniques for assessing and teaching students who are moderate to severe on the autism spectrum. You will study the current research, learn how to assess behavior and how to plan for challenging behaviors.

Candidates must have a teaching license to gain admission into this program.

Developmental Disabilities

As a student of Developmental Disabilities, your studies will include an examination of programming models, methods and materials for students with moderate to severe developmental and cognitive disabilities.

Candidates must have a teaching license to gain admission into this program.

Emotional/Behavioral Disorders

In the study of Emotional/Behavioral Disorders, you will examine methods and interventions for preschool to high school students with moderate to severe emotional and behavioral disorders. 

Candidates must have a teaching license to gain admission into this program.

Learning Disabilities

In the learning disabilities graduate certificate program you will examine advanced methods and interventions for serving students with moderate to severe learning disabilities. 

Candidates must have a teaching license to gain admission into this program.
