National Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Since our inception 27 years ago, the Women’s Center has joined with others to offer unique, engaging and cutting-edge programming to deter sexual assault and give voice to the issues experienced by victims and survivors.

The Women’s Center celebrates National Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) during the month of April each year, although it’s important to note that educational efforts to prevent rape and sexual assault occur throughout the year. The goal of SAAM is to raise public awareness about sexual violence and to educate communities and individuals about strategies to prevent sexual assault.

The Women’s Center has a history of partnering with student organizations, particularly Students for Sexual Consent (formerly Campus Advocates Against Sexual Assault), as well as departments and community organizations like the Central Minnesota Sexual Assault Center to bring focus to a problem that directly impacts one in five college students today.
