Huskies Scholarships

Huskies Scholarships applications now open for 2021-2022

Nearly 500 different scholarships, apply by March 15

A one-stop website, Huskies Scholarships is accepting applications through March 15 for nearly 500 different scholarships funded by alumni and friends of the university. The site also has links to 17 national scholarship-search tools and nearly 50 external scholarship opportunities.

The scholarships have a wide range of criteria such as chosen major, class level, financial need, grades, chosen college, organization affiliation, leadership, athletic ability, gender, race, and military background. There’s something for everyone! In 2020, over $1.16 million was awarded to 992 SCSU students through Huskies Scholarships. Last fiscal year, the SCSU Foundation raised $1.2 million for future scholarships.

Students who complete the Huskies Scholarships general application are automatically matched to certain scholarships. The system presents them with a list of Recommended Opportunities based on their application answers. These scholarships require students to apply for them individually and submit additional information such as a degree audit report, an essay or references. About 60% of the scholarships require students to apply for them individually. These awards are often larger than the “auto-match” scholarships and are worth the extra time to apply.

Newly admitted students receive scholarships through the Office of Admissions and may also apply for scholarships offered in Huskies Scholarships.

Parents and community members can view and search for scholarships without creating a user account.
Students signing-in with a Star ID can:

  • View and search for scholarships
  • Apply and accept scholarships
  • Submit thank-you letters to donors

The application, review and awards process is managed by the Foundation and the Financial Aid Office. Faculty scholarship committees review and score qualified applications, select recipients and offer scholarships. Training and support for faculty reviewers is provided by staff members of the SCSU Foundation and Financial Aid Office.
