The Committee toured the facility and viewed a presentation highlighting a proposal for a new Education and Learning Design Complex on campus. President Wacker welcomed everyone to campus and provided an overview of It’s Time, the strategic framework for the future of St. Cloud State. Dean Mueller discussed the historical roots of the college and its impact on education in the region and around the state. She shared a vision for a new complex that would house multi-generational and interdisciplinary approaches to education. The new complex would create learning spaces that would invite innovation and collaboration to prepare future educators spanning early education to higher education. The proposed Education and Learning Design Complex is a multiyear project that would be developed in three stages across multiple years.

Among the attendees in attendance for the tour were representatives Dan Wolgamott, Lisa Demuth, Fue Lee, Dean Urdahl, Kaela Berg, Mike Freiberg, John Huot, Leon Lillie, Rena Moran, Jordan Rasmusson, Liz Reyer, Nolan West, Jay Xiong and Kurt Daudt.

The 2022 Minnesota State Capital Budget Request is a request from Minnesota State and its colleges and universities focusing on obtaining funding for items such as land acquisition, repair, renovation and construction of state facilities, and more. The budget will help the colleges and universities respond to changing demographics and learning strategies for students, emphasize adaptive reuse and repurposing space in projects, replace obsolete facilities and learning spaces, and more.
