St. Cloud State launches ABA doctorate

St. Cloud State University is launching its third doctoral degree in Fall 2021 with the launch of a Doctorate of Psychology in Applied Behavior Analysis.

This is a first of its kind degree focusing on preparing students to be clinicians and clinic managers. The program will equip graduates with research-based practices in Applied Behavior Analysis, while also focusing deeply on licensure law, clinical directorship and clinical ownership roles.

Many behavior analysts are coming out of Doctor of Philosophy programs with skills in research or treatment but are finding that they don’t have the skills needed to run their own clinic, said Dr. Ben Witts, program director.

This program will give students the effective skills in management and treatment, so they will be prepared for day-to-day clinical operations such as supervision, hiring and billing in addition to knowledge in effective treatment.

“We believe that the ABA faculty are here to serve students; not the other way around,” Witts said.

St. Cloud State University is a global leader in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis with the Master of Science program attracting graduates from across the country and every Canadian province since its launch in 2002.

The program is world-renowned in educating practitioners for its high first-time pass rates of the board certification exam. It is one of 22 graduate programs accredited by the Association for Behavior Analysis International.
