Campus Visit: Group Visits

Group Visit Guidelines and Tips

In order for us to be a great host, please follow the guidelines and tips to ensure your visit is a pleasant experience for everyone:

Plan ahead!

We will need 2-3 week notice to plan and process your group visit. Due to limited available dates and other campus events, we operate on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please plan for alternative dates. A confirmation email and agenda will be emailed to you when your request date/time is approved by the Admissions Representative.

Note: In order to provide accommodations for your group visit we ask that you receive a confirmation email before bringing your students to campus so that we can plan and prepare appropriately.

Dress appropriately for the weather!

Your visit will include a one-hour walking tour of the campus. Encourage your students to wear comfortable shoes, and dress for the weather. We give tours in rain, snow, and shine!

Arrive on time

We request that you plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your admission presentation and campus tour time. If your group is running late, please contact your admission representative so they can make arrangements as necessary. Groups arriving more than 15 minutes late are not guaranteed their full agenda, but we will do our best to accommodate you.

Canceling your Campus Visit – Please notify us at least 2 days in advance if you need to cancel your visit. Contact your admission representative or the Admission Office at 320-308-3981 to do so.

Note: St. Cloud State University reserves the right to deny a visit request in the future if your group cancels a campus visit trip.

What to expect

Our regular group campus visit consists of the following:

  • Admissions Presentation and Video - Thirty-minutes (30 minutes)
  • Campus Tour - One-hour (1 hour)
  • NoteIf you have additional requests that you would like for your group to experience from our specific departments, offices, and/or campus dining, please work with the appropriate Admissions Representative to plan accordingly. Please understand that your request will be contingent upon availability of building hours and staff/faculty and may not be guaranteed.
  • Overall expected time frame: 1.5 – 3 hours

Sticking together!

All groups are required to have a chaperone to student ratio of 15:1. Chaperones are responsible for monitoring and ensuring proper behavior of their students. Please remind the students of the importance of being quiet in the academic buildings to respect the learning environment of our students, faculty, and staff.

Group Size Maximum limit

To ensure a quality campus visit experience, we limit the size of our groups as specified below (limits include chaperones and students).

Summer (May-August): 30
Fall/Spring (September-April): 80

If your group exceeds the maximum for accommodation, we will provide a Self-Guided Tour Brochure for the campus tour portion of your visit.

Having fun!

Stay engaged with us during your visit! Ask questions during your presentation, tour, and additional activities. Each student and chaperone will receive a goodie bag from SCSU, and we have special giveaways for Q&A sessions.
