RN to BS Completion

The RN Baccalaureate Completion Program is for Registered Nurses who are seeking to complete a bachelor’s degree. The nursing program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and is approved by the Minnesota Board of Nursing.

The deadline for a Fall 2019 start is June 3.

Deadline for advance standing admission is Feb. 1. (see below for advance standing details)


  • 30 credit program delivered entirely online         
    • Students may need additional credits based on pervious educational background (please contact our academic advisor for clarification; Rochelle Ament at
  • One admission cycle per year; if admitted students begin in a fall semester
  • Program covers three semesters (fall, spring, summer) allowing for program completion in one year
  • Cohort based program which includes an internship/capstone project to be completed in the last semester of the program
  • Graduates also earn a public health certification


At the time of application you must meet the following requirements in order to be considered for the nursing program (eligibility does not assure admission)

  • Completed St. Cloud State University application (including transcripts).
  • Completed RN to BS applications forms will all supporting documentation and references.
  • Evidence of current unencumbered RN licensure in at least one state with eligibility for licensure in MN.
    • Students who have recently graduated from an Associate’s Degree Nursing program and have not yet passed the N-CLEX are welcome to apply.  An RN license is required to begin courses in fall semester.
  • Achieved a minimum cumulative GPA for 2.50 in the previous RN program (based on a 4.0 scale).
  • Completed all admission requirements in University Catalog.

Step 1

Apply to St. Cloud State University
Applying to the St. Cloud State University (SCSU) RN to BS program is a separate process from applying to St. Cloud State University.

Step 2

Submit RN to BS application
The RN to BS application deadline for admission to the program for a fall 2019 start is June 3, 2019. Late and incomplete applications are not reviewed.


Advanced Standing Admission

Apply Early...Finish Faster

Submit a completed application by Feb. 1 and start on liberal education and upper division requirements now. A completed application by the deadline ensures you are accepted to the program and will begin nursing courses in fall 2019.
