Rehabilitation and Addiction Counseling (M.S.)



The Rehabilitation and Addiction Counseling program will prepare you to provide rehabilitation and addiction counseling and psychological services. You will develop professional understanding, knowledge, attitude and skills needed to assist individuals with disabilities and co-occurring addiction diagnoses in achieving their maximum level of independence and functioning. Get ready for a rigorous rehabilitation and addiction counseling program.

Program Highlights

  • Works with the on-campus Recovery Resource Center to mentor undergraduate students in recovery and mentor group sessions.
  • Opportunities to participate in undergraduate teaching, research opportunities, grant writing and interdisciplinary projects.
  • The Ability Event introduces students to people with disabilities who develop activities that simulate life from their point of view.
  • Designed for full-time or part-time students.
  • Some evening and online classes available in the program.
  • Graduate assistantships available both fall and spring semesters. 

Program Distinctions

  • A federal Rehabilitation Long-Term Training Grant funds partial tuition reimbursement for 16 students per year through 2025.
  • One of two training programs with specialized expertise in Rehabilitation Counseling and Addiction in the United States.
  • Program graduates will have met education requirements to sit for the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor exam, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor exam, the Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor exam and the Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor exam.
  • Students present at state and national conferences.
