Department of Geography & Planning

Department of Geography and Planning

One of Minnesota's most comprehensive departments, we specialize in these areas: Geographic Information Science (GIS), Hospitality and Tourism, Land Surveying and Mapping Sciences, Planning and Community Development, Social Studies Education and cultural/physical/regional Geography.

We offer cutting-edge research facilities in GIS, image processing and cartography.

Our students study abroad, mature in organizations, network at events and gain experience in real-world internships.

Leverage the national and international connections of our faculty to advance your career.

Please note: Although courses successfully completed at a community and technical college may count toward total credits required for a bachelor's degree, such courses will not be counted toward upper division (300 or 400 level) credit. Requests for transferring credits for major requirements and electives need to be addressed to the Department Chair, Dr. Randal Baker, for program consideration.
