Students will be immersed in the culture and context of China for two weeks. This program will promote global competencies and awareness of the significance of U.S.-China relations.

While abroad, students will learn about the social/cultural aspects of Chinese society, the educational system, the economic dynamics of the country and the status of US/China relations in a globally interconnected world. Students will have opportunities to learn functional Chinese through interactions with local people.


  • Historical and cultural sites: The Great Wall, Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, temples and hidden treasures of urban and rural communities
  • Meeting and dialogue with the American Education Center: U.S. Beijing Embassy
  • Educational site visits to K-12 schools and universities
  • Participation in a day-long seminar at a partner university
  • Urban and rural interactions with Chinese people and homestay with Chinese families




Confucius Institute scholarships that cover all costs in China are available to qualifying students. Students will be responsible for international airfare, Center for International Studies Education Abroad expenses, and passport and visa fees.
