Special Project Grant

The Viking Coke Initiative Fund supports exceptional events/initiatives/programs that focus on one or more of the following areas: student development, student impact, health and wellness, community, and sustainability.

Viking Coke Initiative Fund grant can directly impact new initiatives on campus. It cannot supplement budgets or support existing programs.

The priority deadline is Oct. 27, but we will review applications until funds are expended.

Award details

Grants range between $100 and $3,000. Multiple projects may be funded.


Projects must be:

  • Complete by the end of the 2017-2018 academic year
  • Student-driven and student-focused
Project examples might include:
  • Designed by a class with a faculty adviser
  • Lead by a student organization with faculty/staff adviser
  • Created by a student group with a department sponsor


Projects with these elements will be given preference:

  • Occur on campus
  • Support student life events, beverage marketing, health and wellness, athletics, sustainability
  • Directly impact students or the student experience
  • Have a wide reach and broad impact

St. Cloud State coloring book |  Promoted the student experience.


Consent Campaign | Promoted the "It's on Us" campaign against sexual violence with posters.
Husky Health Hut | Promoted health and safety using a Peer Education and Prevention Team.
Iron Husky Weigh Lifting Competition | Engaged students in a new health and wellness program.


Bat Houses | Promoted sustainability and provided students with environmental learning opportunites.
Athlete Move-In Connection | Marketing materials promoted a free lunch where new students and athletes could interact.
Water bottles | Promoted health, wellness and sustainability with free water bottles at Huskies First Four Days.
